At 6:30 p.m. President George called the December 23, 2014 meeting of the University Park Civic Association (UPCA) to order.
The members stood for the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag.
President George stated the December minutes will be read for approval at the January meeting. President George stated VP Shirley George will be taking the minutes at the December meeting.
President George thanked Laura Conderman for placing the Christmas wreaths at the front gates also at the gate on Jim Tom. President George reported he had been approached by a gentleman inquiring about pressure washing the brick wall on University Blvd. Treasure Earl Kelly stated the previous time the wall was cleaned by a member of UPCA and though we should approach our members first. The membership agreed with Mr. Kelly.
President George explained the process of nominating new officers for 2015.
President George appointed Ed Wey as chairperson of the election committee.
The nomination process went as followed: President: Joseph George, Vice President: Harry Lang Secretary: Shirley George, Treasurer: Earl Kelly
Nominations and election of officers will take place at the January 20, 2015 meeting.
Vice Presidents Report: Shirley George stated to the members we should recognize our UPCA members that volunteered to pass out the monthly meeting flyers. Shirley also brought before the members it would be nice for our volunteers to have shirts with a UPCA logo to wear when they are canvassing the neighborhood. We also discussed forming a telephone committee in 2015. Harry Lang brought up the discussion of having an occasional morning coffee meeting at the University Park Library. This topic to be discussed at a later date.
Treasurer report: Treasurer Earl Kelly reported to members all UPCA bills have been paid and the account and CD’s are in order.
President George thanked Loretta Cunningham, for her assistance with our refreshments.
There being no further discussion, the meeting was adjourned at 7:30. The next meeting is scheduled for January 20, 2015, 6:30 p.m. at the University Park Library.
