Meeting called to order @ 6:30 p.m. President George, followed by the Pledge to the Flag

Introduction of speakers by V.P Shirley George: ShAdCo Chairman Jill Haskell & Co-Chair Dick Hulcher ShAdCo (Sheriffs Advisory Council) is a partnership between the Sheriff’s department and the community. The ShAdCo members meet on the second Thursday of each month at Regency Square mall and discuss safety in neighborhoods, excessive speeding, drugs related and other problems you might want to share. You will meet JSO officers face to face and meet the officers that work directly in our neighborhoods. The program last for one hour 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. You are asked to fill out a form with your complaints signed or unsigned and your problems will be addressed by officers and reported back to you at the next meeting.

Every third Thursday zone 2 Delta Sector meets with other Sectors at the Police Auxiliary on McCormack and sometime we have refreshments. Once a year we celebrate the Holidays with a big dinner for all sectors in the city. This dinner is held at First Baptist Church. Good food is enjoyed by all.

When you join ShAdCo you will be ask to fill out a short membership form. There is no charge to join, all they ask as a ShAdCo member is to keep your ears and eyes open and if you see something say something. Anything out of order on your street or in your neighborhood may be reported to the non-emergency number 630-0500. You can leave your name or ask that your name not be given out. ShAdCo also has neighborhoods walks to share safety tips, build neighborhood relationships and secure more members to participate in ShAdCo.

Each person was asked to introduce them self and share a little history. We were pleased to have about 35 in attendance and many were new to University Park. We are happy to announce five new families joined University Park Civic Association tonight.

The Safety Fair will be held at Regency Square May 21st 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p. m. Saturday. One Hundred bicycles and Helmets will be given away to the young people when they participate in the bicycle rodeo.

Brick Wall at entrance was destroyed early Sunday morning. Police report: It was hit around 2:30 a.m. Driver left the scene. Dark Blue SUV with extensive damage to front and passenger side and a missing front bumper. If anyone knows or hears anything please let us know. We voted to offer a 500. Dollar reward for individual responsible.

May 7th Snipe will buy back old tires and street signs at Ever bank Field lot z.

National Food Drive. May 14th will be collected by Letter Carriers. Please put your nonperishable items in a plastic bag and hang it on your door knob or mail box. All the food collected stays in our area and is taken to the food bank on Rogero Rd.

The new privately own church school on Ft Caroline Rd will not open until 2017. The owners will provide space for a boys and girls summer champ until the school opens.

Councilwoman Joyce Morgan held the last Town Hall Meeting at Justina School and the next Town Hall Meeting will be at Episcopal High School on Atlantic Blvd. date 5-23-16. Everyone is welcome to attend.

IDO comes to Regency Square Mall Official Grand Opening in June. Sears to close at Regency square Liquation sales begins on 4-27-16.

Sargent Foxworth spoke to us about spikes in property crime in Arlington. Make sure your garage doors are closed and your car doors are locked. Most of the car burglaries are caused because these measures are not taken. Curfew for school age children is 11:00 p.m. weekdays and 12:00 p.m. on weekends.

New lamps will be ordered to replace lights on damaged wall.

Meeting adjourned at 8:15 p.m. The next scheduled UPCA meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. May 31st 2016.
